Reading about him there seems to be conflict, how he died. some sources say syphilis other say throat cancer, the family wanted to be known that died of cancer instead of syphilis.
Babe had tons of flings with prostitutes during his career though he settled down after marrying Claire. he had a collapse in 1925 and it was alleged that he ate too many hot dogs that contributed to this. there was a rumor that he was actually suffering from a venereal disease. Babe contracted throat cancer in 1946 and died on August 16, 1948 the illness.
Syphilis was curable in the 1940;s so Ruth certainly would have gotten treatment for it. he died of Throat Cancer, which was very common death of men in that era due to smoking. mostly due to heavy use of unfiltered cigarettes and cigars.
Will already covered the cancer, which has been documented in medical journals, because Babe received chemotheraphy....and he recovered for a short period.
Al Capone died from secondary syphillus..maybe you confused that with the Babe.
Cancer and the treatments he had the $ to get treatment that wasnt tested yet, that actually helped speed up his death.
Too many cigars
Listen to his speech in 1948. That's throat cancer.
Too many hot dogs and too much beer.
