20-30 cats were killed in a fire at the Pet Alliance in Greater Orlando


Orlando, Florida. Up to 30 cats were killed Wednesday night when a fire broke out at the Pet Alliance in Greater Orlando.

The fire was reported at 10:21 p.m. at the shelter located on Conroe Road near Millenia Mall.

The Orange County Rescue Organization said the facility was “50% involved” when the firefighters arrived.

Many cats and dogs were rescued, but not 20 to 30 cats survived, according to Steve Bardy, CEO of Pet Alliance.

Bardi said the fire appears to have started at the front of the building, but the cause of the fire is under investigation.

Pet Alliance was scheduled to close its veterinary clinic on Friday.
