Taylor Day by Day With Texans Injured; Watson will not play

Houston Houston quarterback Tyrod Taylor struggles day in and day out with a hamstring injury as the Texans face a quick turnaround with Thursday night’s game against Carolina.

If Taylor can’t play, Deshaun Watson won’t be an option, with coach David Cooley saying on Monday that Watson will be as inactive for Thursday’s game as he was in the first two games.

Watson was listed as inactive/unrelated to injury after his commercial application and after 22 women filed lawsuits alleging sexual assault or harassment.

Cooley said Taylor was getting an MRI on Monday and that the team would know more about its availability after that.

“If he can go and be willing to go, he will play,” Cooley said.

Taylor was injured in the first half of Houston’s 31-21 loss to Cleveland on Sunday and did not return after the first half. Rookie Davis Mills, a third-round pick from Stanford, took charge and threw for 102 yards with a touchdown and interception.

If Taylor can’t play on Thursday, Texans will likely bring in Jeff Driskill from the coaching squad to support Mills. Cooley said they have not yet discussed the possibility of signing another midfielder this week.
