Did you know that October is the month of the native plant? If you love Florida’s native nature and plants, the Lake County Wildflower Festival offers a great way to celebrate the month and enjoy a free, family-friendly, nature-friendly outdoor event.
The festival will take place on Saturday, October 2, from 9 am to 2 pm at Green Isle Gardens, located at 11,303 SAR in Groveland.
Sponsored by the Passionflower and Lake Beautyberry chapters of the Florida Native Plant Society, the event will feature presentations, tours, exhibitors, and a “Create Station” for children.
A variety of wildflowers, trees, shrubs, vines, and ground covers will also be available for sale. Florida Native Plant Society members get 10% off their plant purchases.
In this one-day event, discover how to create a habitat for butterflies and birds, help protect the environment and conserve natural resources. Learn from experts about endangered species, gardening, and the beauty and benefits of native plants. Take a butterfly or nursery tour, meet authors, and buy signed books. Sample tea made from Yaupon’s original berries and enjoy a meal or snacks from the food trucks and ice cream.
