5 pass TD Mahomes ahead of the team leaders after the Raiders 41-14
Las vigas Patrick Mahomes pulled off the pressure when he ran toward the scrimmage line and fired a deep ball that turned a seemingly broken play into a touchdown.
The old Mahomes were back Sunday night and the Kansas City Chiefs were back in their usual spot above the division.
Mahomes threw five touchdown passes and He’s back to his usual form After a surprisingly shaky period this season, The Chiefs raced past the Las Vegas Raiders 41-14 on Sunday night.
“We’ve done it before,” Mahomes said. “We’ve done that in the last few seasons that we’ve been doing early in the season. We’ve been moving the ball and making a lot of things. We were just turning the ball around. Then we kind of went through some little spell where we didn’t do those drives and still find ways to win. I knew We’re going to click it again.”
The Mahomes and the Chiefs (6-4) have shown little resemblance to the team that beat the AFC in the past three seasons over the first nine weeks, raising questions about whether they can return to the Super Bowl for the third time in a row.
But they used a dominant performance on the Raiders (5-4) on a losing day in the division to return to the top of the standings.
Mahomes completed three short passes from TD before he sparkled his playmaking brilliance early in the fourth quarter after Kansas City fake gamble diversion On the 16-yard fairway from Tommy Townsend to Marcus Kemp.
Mahomes then made two plays later, lunging and making a deep pass through his body that Daryl Williams caught for a 38-yard TD that made him 34-14. He almost ran or threw a shorter pass before he saw the big playing opportunity.
“Outside the ocean I saw Daryl,” said Mahomes. “Actually I just threw it a little bit. He tells me he catches, does Daryl. I think I see he can. So he made a pretty big play.”
Mahomes added 22 yards to Byron Pringle and finished 35 for 50 for 406 yards. It is also connected to a file 8 yards from Terek Hill The first quarter then 1 yard to Hill and the end of the tight rookie Noah Gray.
“He’s a guy who never gets comfortable,” Hill said of Mahomes. “He’s always trying to get better. He’s always trying to find ways to improve himself as a team. Because without him, we’re not going anywhere. Because he knows that.”
The Raiders have fallen behind on back-to-back games after a promising start to the season as poor execution and issues off the field led to it.
They won two games in a row after coach John Gruden resigned after posting old offensive emails but it hasn’t looked the same in the past two weeks. Both losses followed the release of Henry Rouges III, who was charged with felonies in the DUI crash that killed a 23-year-old woman.
Las Vegas have flipped the ball more than five times in the past two weeks, to match their first seven games total, and an improved defense couldn’t slow Mahomes’ pace.
Derek Carr threw 2 passes from TD But he has also been intercepted for the third time in the past two weeks as the offense has been struggling to keep up.
The Raiders held 82 yards in the first half, their lowest in a home game in eight years, and went 1 for 9 on the third decrease to go down from double figures in the first half for the fifth time this season.
“We got caught in a hole and it’s tough against this team,” said Carr. “They just play soft cover. They get a big lead, they play soft cover, they attack here and there and make you go up front. It’s a tough way to do that.”
The Raiders brought in a fast-receiver DeSean Jackson this week to fill the void left by the Ruggs’ launch. Jackson received an ominous welcome in Las Vegas. In his first goal of the game in the third quarter, Jackson got a pass from Carr. but Rashad Fenton kicked the ball Terran Mateo recovered.
Instead of the Raiders getting a chance to overcome a 10-point deficit, the Chiefs drove for a field goal to make it 27-14.
“It might be a turning point in the game in a bit,” interim coach Rich Bisachia said. “The bottom came out after that.”
Watchers are people
