Disney, Cirque du Soleil Open New Show “Drawn to Life” With A Standing Ceremony

Lake Buena Vista, Florida. Disney and Cirque du Soleil stunned an entire audience Thursday night with the premiere of their new show, “Drawn To Life.”

The stage at Disney Springs was full of enthusiastic fans who waited more than a year for his official debut. The show was originally scheduled to open to the public in Spring 2020, but Disney had to put those plans on hold due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Cirque du Soleil and Disney to open Drawn to Life at Disney Springs on November 18 Follow Favorite

The show is the first-ever theatrical collaboration between three creative icons: Cirque du Soleil, Walt Disney Animation Studios, and Walt Disney Imagineering.

Officials said the show is a love letter to Disney Animation brought to life through acrobatics by Cirque du Soleil, dazzling choreography, innovative design and stunning costumes alongside brand-new characters created by Disney Animation artists.

Before the show began, the audience heard speeches from two-time Emmy-nominated actor and producer John Stamos, president of Walt Disney World Resort Jeff Fall, and Danielle Lamarie, president and CEO of Cirque du Soleil entertainment group.

“This show has been in the making for years and finally sharing it with the world is a dream come true,” Lamarie said in a press release. “This collaboration was unlike anything we’ve done before. We hope it means as much to our fans as it should to us – it’s not just our show now, it’s theirs too.”


“Drawn to Life” features 62 artists from 15 countries around the world including Japan, Russia, Togo, Colombia and Peru.

The story revolves around the character of Julie, a determined girl who discovers an unexpected message from her Disney animator father: Unfinished Animation. Guided by a sudden pencil lead, Jolie embarks on an inspiring mission filled with childhood memories from Disney.

The story revolves around 10 unique acrobatics alongside animations from beloved Disney films as well as all-new animations created by Disney animators led by Director Animation Eric Goldberg, known for characters such as the genie in the classic cartoon, Aladdin. “

Other unique Disney show facts include:

  • The four animators who have befriended Julie on her journey are the arc of Cirque du Soleil to Walt Disney’s Nine Men, Disney cartoon icons

  • In Dreams of Colors, the color scene pays homage to Disney’s animation genius Mary Blair. Honor is also given to the Women of Ink and Paint, the unsung heroes whose brushstrokes gave life to early celluloid cartoon forms.

  • The Old Mill is based on Walt Disney’s 1937 groundbreaking animation of the same name

  • The movie Squash & Stretch was inspired by Disney Animators’ rubber band fights during their breaks.

“Drawn to Life” will be presented Tuesday through Saturday at Disney Springs at Walt Disney World Resort.
