Disney shares new details about Guardians Of The Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind

Bay Lake, Florida, During a D23 Fan event at Disney’s contemporary resort on Saturday, the company shared new details about an expected new attraction coming to EPCOT, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind.

During the special event, Disney Parks, Experiences & Products Chairman Josh Damaro said the attraction will open in the summer of 2022.

Disney described in its blog post: “This lively, family-friendly new ship matches the ‘granny’ and fun of the blockbuster ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ films on what will be one of the world’s longest fully enclosed coasters.”

The new attraction is in the park’s newly named World Discovery Neighborhood, in the former Universe of Energy pavilion.

“Xandarians traveled from their original world in the Andromeda galaxy to Earth — or Terra, as they call it — to build the Xandar Wonder Pavilion, inviting EPCOT guests to learn more about their people and their advanced technologies. Until the Guardians arrive, however, the adventure begins,” he described Disney in a press release.

Disney also shared new shows on Saturday from the Xandar Gallery, where guests will learn more about the Xandarian people, culture, and history, including the Guardians of the Galaxy.

Disney also shared the first attraction poster, which features famous characters from the movie.

The new attraction will be one of the tallest fully enclosed coasters in the world, located in one of the largest exhibition buildings ever built for a Disney theme park. The thrill ride is also the first Disney coaster with a reverse launch.

To help with the announcements, D’Amaro got some help from Academy Award nominee Glenn Close, who will reprise her role from Guardians of the Galaxy as Nova Prime, Zander’s Commander and Nova Corps commander.

Disney plans to share more details about the attraction during the 18-month celebration of Walt Disney World Resort’s 50th anniversary.
