Orlando Concert Anthology, November 26-30: Neuro Turkey, Big Jeff Special, Yautja, TNT Hotline | This is Little Underground | Orlando
I know everything else seems tamed here now after the last GG Allin-esque stunt by Brass Against Sophia Urista on stage at the Daytona Welcome to Rockville Music Festival. At least the following shows will not contain the starting area. And as always, be a realistic guy if you go out.
Nervous Turkey, Big Jeff Special: Someone here has an exceptional sense of timing and humor to book a band called Nervous Turkey for Thanksgiving week. It’s been a long time since famous Tampa blues rockers brought their swampy stunts to town, and this special show is part of a small bi-history reunion tour of the I-4 lane that will melt them from hibernation for another help.
Add a local cowboy Big Jef Special and a guaranteed party. Shit will be kicked, and hell will be raised. (8 p.m. Friday, November 26, Will’s Pub, $10)
Yautja, Yashira, Gillian Carter, Royal Graves, and Human: From the national headlines to the local opener, this attack is the most rambling and impressive scramble of heavy music stars seen here in a long time. At the top of the bill are breakout Nashville Grind-Bank Yautja, who went into the Major League this year with a brutal debut on solid reversal records. Rolling with them will be a battalion of all-Florida native monsters that include the dynamic sludge of Jacksonville’s rookie band Yashira, Orlando Gillian Carter, Human and Royal Greaves. (8 p.m. Sunday, November 28, Will’s Pub, $13-$15)
TNT Hotline: Earlier this week, Snail Mail’s Lindsey Jordan had to postpone her band’s North American tour due to emergency surgery to remove polyps from her vocal cords. (Don’t worry, there’s already a rescheduled date for August 23, 2022.) Meanwhile, Hotline TNT tour openings are working on a mini version of this tour. So come and check out these excellent Minneapolis rockers at Stardust. Details are pending. (Tuesday, November 30, Stardust video and coffee)
