Oro Mexican Restaurant is set to open in the coming months
With the grand opening of Cigarz on the street’s new location, the former lounge space is giving way to a new tenant: the Oro Mexican Restaurant. Oro, which translates to “golden” in Spanish, will bring a new twist to Park Avenue as well as handcrafted and tabletop cocktails, countless tequilas, and of course Mexican cuisine.
Starting this week, passersby can watch the preparation of the restaurant as the contractors begin their work.
“[Winter Park] “I needed something new and different,” Jesse Williams, an operating partner of ORO, said in a recent interview. “You can have a lot of high-energy restaurants in the Sand Lake area. You have an H, you have Rocco’s Tacos, and even Eddie V. We wanted to make that happen [high energy] to the Park Avenue area.”
Together with his business partner Kevin Young, Williams opened and operated several restaurants and clubs. The two form Park Avenue Concepts LLC Before signing for Leahse for 3,000 square feet at 331 S. Park Ave. Prior to Oro, the site hosted Mon Petit Cheri Café, as well as Cigarz on St.
“Whether it’s a 21-year-old who wants to hang out until 10 or 11 at night or an older person, you don’t have to drive far to get that kind of entertainment,” Williams said.
According to an interview with Williams in August, the restaurant will open by the end of the year.
