OUC Opens Voting for the 2022 Watercolor Project Calendar Cover
For the first time, OUC customers and the community can vote for their favorite artwork to decorate the OUC Water Color Project calendar cover. Voting for the 2022 calendar cover remains open on the OUC Facebook page and will close at 9am, Friday, November 19, so be sure to cast your vote now. The winner will be revealed on Monday, November 29th.
Fourth and fifth graders across Orange County Public Schools (OCPS) were invited to create an artwork for the calendar, and each school selected a maximum of 10 entries to submit. Approximately 113 students from 13 primary schools submitted entries. OUC staff selected 13 submissions for the 2022 calendar based on originality, technical skill, water conservation message or slogan, and suitability for breeding on the calendar.
The 13 entries are displayed with the names of the students who created them and the schools they attended. The winner of the public vote will be featured on the cover of the 2022 calendar, with the other 12 entries representing the months of the year.
Since 2006, the OUC Watercolor Project has been educating future generations about water conservation and the importance of this natural resource through art. Students receive a lesson on water conservation and then develop artwork, messages, and logos to present for OUC’s annual Watercolor Project calendar. OUC and OCPS are program partners.
Over the past 15 years, more than 100 elementary schools and more than 25,000 fourth- and fifth-grade students have participated in the annual calendar competition. More than 5,000 calendars are distributed annually.
