Packers Seahawks 17-0 difference with Rodgers and Wilson back

Green Bay, Wes. – Aaron Rodgers is back in the middle and the Packers are back to win – a welcome return to Green Bay after two tumultuous weeks.

The ruling MVP can thank the Packers defense for doing so much of the heavy lifting.

AJ Dillon raced to relegation twice in the final quarter and Green Bay beat the Seattle Seahawks 17-0 on Sunday as Rodgers returned after missing a game with COVID-19. Seattle closed for the first time in a decade.

A week after his positive test saw him lose 13-7 in Kansas City, Rodgers went 23 of 37 for 292 yards and threw an interception in the end zone in the third quarter as the Packers won for the eighth time in their last nine games.

“It’s good to be back with the players, it is good to be home, and it is good to be on the field really,” Rodgers said during a post-match press conference held via Zoom, which allowed him to reveal the mask without violating league protocols. “Probably the most intense feeling of the night was walking off the field after the match. It definitely made me feel a little hazy.”

Rodgers has not trained all week and was allowed to play on Saturday under NFL protocols for unvaccinated players.

The three-time pre-season player of the year said he was “immunised”. After his positive test, he explained in an incendiary radio interview his reasons for looking for alternatives to vaccination and his skepticism about the effectiveness of the shots. Rodgers later apologized for the misleading statement about his vaccination status.

“There will always be criticism in this world,” Rodgers said in his first comments to reporters since the controversy emerged. “I don’t define myself with criticism, but I understand it’s part of this because this issue is definitely polarizing.”

Although Rodgers was barely at his best, his comeback made it abundantly clear: With him, the Packers (8-2) are among the top teams in the NFC and a contender in the Super Bowl.

“I felt good most of the time,” he said. “I feel like I played pretty aggressively. Obviously I made the bad decision in the red and I might have missed a few throws.”

Seattle’s Russell Wilson also struggled on his comeback after missing three games due to an injury to his middle finger on his hand that required surgery. He went 20 of 40 for 161 yards with two interceptions.

The Seahawks (3-6) missed two scoring chances when Kevin King and Adrian Amos scored Wilson’s assists in the end zone.

“It’s a huge opportunity we missed,” Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said. “Just disappointing, because this was a real shot. We could feel it and we knew it.”

Green Bay recorded its first close since a 22-0 win over the Buffalo Bills on September 30, 2018. The Seahawks haven’t closed since falling 24-0 to the Pittsburgh Steelers on September 18, 2011, the year before Wilson’s arrival in Seattle.

“First of all, it’s hard to dismiss anyone,” Amos said. “But then when you have a guy who can stretch (play), has a pedigree, everything he’s done, a Super Bowl-winning quarterback and everything, that’s a tough job.”

Green Bay’s 3-0 lead tied for the fourth quarter with the second lowest result in three quarters of any NFL game since 2008. Dallas and Philadelphia were goalless during the third quarter of the 2017 game that Dallas eventually won 6-0.

With the 2020 Pro Bowl side losing Aaron Jones with a knee injury in the second half, Dillon executed the Packers’ rushing attack all the way to keep the game out of hand. Packers coach Matt Lafleur had no further details of Jones’ injury after the game.

Yes, when he first came out of the game, Dillon said, he looked at me and said, ‘Done job, finish it! “It’s like my older brother on this team, I love him to death, so he believed in me, that confidence, it was great. Like I said, I wanted to finish it up for him and the team, and we’ve done it as a team.”

In a third game and a goal of 3, Dillon faced Bobby Wagner around the streak of scrimmage but essentially carried the linebacker six times into the end zone on his first touchdown of the season. This increased Green Bay’s lead to 10-0 with 10:37 left.

Dillon also scored for the 2-yard sprint two minutes before the finish, creating that TD with a 50-yard reception. He finished with 21 grabs for 66 yards and two grabs for 62 yards.

Metcalf extruded

Seahawks receiver DK Metcalf was sent off more than a minute before the end of the game after a skirmish that resulted in penalty kicks on both teams. It looks like Metcalf snatched at least one player’s face mask from the Packers.
