Police say a man was killed in Melbourne and hit the run, and a suspect sought

Melbourne, Florida. – A pedestrian was killed early Saturday morning in a hit-and-run accident on a Melbourne street, police said.

Melbourne police responded at about 2 a.m. Saturday to South Harbor City Boulevard near its intersection with New Haven Street, where they found a man who had been hit by a car and died at the scene, according to a News 6 Florida Today partner.

Police said the man, whose age and identity have not been released, was on South Harbor City Boulevard between New Haven and East Strawbridge streets when he was hit by a red GMC Sierra or similar truck that then fled the area.

Police said the truck was believed to be a model made between 2007 and 2013 and damaged the front of the truck.

The accident is being investigated as a traffic homicide. Police are asking anyone with information regarding the incident to call 6118-616-321.
