Police say a woman was seriously injured when she was hit by a patrol car in Orlando, near downtown

Orlando, Florida. — A woman was seriously injured after being hit by an Orlando patrol car near downtown late Saturday night, the police department said.

The Orlando Police Department said one of its patrol units bombed the woman, 27, as she was crossing East Colonial Drive on North Orange Avenue opposite the “don’t walk” sign into the oncoming traffic lane at 11:45 p.m.

Police said the patrol car was responding to an emergency call with its lights on when it hit the woman.

Officials said the woman was taken to a hospital in the area with serious injuries.

The administration said the investigation is active and ongoing.
