Ripley’s attempt to have the world’s largest hairball
Orlando, Florida. – Ripley’s believe it or not! Once again I did the unthinkable.
The strange and unusual museum is looking to set a Guinness world record for the largest hairball in the world.
According to Guinness World Records, the largest hairball ever created weighed 167 pounds, but the museum says they hope to beat that.

Visitors to the IAAPA 2021 Show at the Orange County Convention Center this week got a first-hand look at the large hairball dubbed HOSS.
Jim Pattison Jr., president of Ripley’s Believe It or Not! “With over 20,000 people expected to attend the IAAPA Show in Orlando, we hope to break the world record – all in the name of a good cause!”
Earlier this week, Ripley’s, Shave the Beard and Make It Weird! The campaign was launched with the aim of supporting Give Kids the World Village in Osceola County.
The quaint 89-acre nonprofit provides critically ill children and their families magical week-long vacations at no cost.
Exhibitors and IAAPA visitors are encouraged to sit down and have a lock of hair to contribute to HOSS, while also making a small donation to Give Kids the World Village.
For every donation made, Ripley’s will match up to a total of $10,000, Ripley’s said.
At the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Pattison told his team that he wouldn’t be flying until all Ripley attractions around the world reopened. Today, Ripley’s is proud to successfully and safely reopen attractions in all but two countries.
Pattinson will shave off his beard on Friday to contribute to HOSS.
