Seabreeze girls’ and boys’ cross-country teams advance to state championships
Senior Tyler Herndon made a personal record, and three Seabreeze girls finished in the top 20 in the District 2-3A cross-country meet, with both teams advancing Sandcrab to the state championship.
Herndon ran 16:26.61 to finish sixth overall as the boys’ team Seabreeze finished seventh in the regional meet November 6 at Austin Tindall Park in Kissimmee. The top eight teams advance to the state championship on Friday, November 12, at Appalachian Regional Park in Tallahassee.
“Our goal was to get to state, and we did,” said Seabreeze Boys’ coach Don Staller.
The Seabreeze girls finished fifth in Kissimmee with twins Mackenzie Roy (19:51.03) and Ariana Roy (20:00.67) placing eighth and 11th, respectively. Junior Nicole Dean (20:26.60) finished 19th, while senior Ella Chandler finished 41st (22:07.59).
For the boys’ Seabreeze, Hayden Herndon (17:44.83) was 36th and Dominic Marinaccio (18:17.22) 44th.
