Sixers’ Joel Embiid may return on Saturday
The Athletic reported Wednesday that the Philadelphia 76ers are optimistic about the return of star Joel Embiid on Saturday after a three-week absence due to COVID-19.
Embiid has been “stepping up” this week, according to the report, and could return for Saturday’s home game against the Minnesota Timberwolves or Monday’s game with the visiting Orlando Magic.
The four-time All-Star entered health and safety protocols after testing positive for COVID-19 on November 8.
Embiid, 27, is averaging 21.4 points, 9.4 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game in nine games this season.
The 76 players, who were 8-2 after their last game on November 6, had gone 2-6 in his absence prior to Wednesday’s game at the Golden State Warriors.
