Sonic Prep Player of the Week: Dr. Phillips’ Basketball Trio

Three high school athletes have been honored for this week’s Sonic Prep Player award.

Ernst Ode, Denzel Aberdeen, and Riley Coogill play Dr. Phillips High School. They are three of the best high school players in Florida.

Earlier this year, the Panthers defeated Dwyer High School to claim the Class 7A State Championship, according to Audi, Aberdeen and Kugel were all part of the championship run.


Each player commits to faculties to play with in the next level. Coogle was signed to play for Mississippi State.

“Players who were on the program in the past, players who are there now, are just developing players who go to the NBA,” Coogill said of Mississippi State. “Just develop them to their full potential.”

Back to the University of Kansas.

“Just knowing that I wanted to play in the NBA at the next level was really where I was,” Audi said of his decision. “But, of course, the ability to play for [Coach Bill Self] And a coach of his stature and the things he’s done with the players that got out of there are really great.”

Aberdeen will remain in the state to play for the Florida Gators and head coach Mike White.

“I just love the atmosphere of the entire facility,” Aberdeen said when talking about his decision to play for Florida. “I love the coaching staff and coach [Mike] White. Obviously, convenience for my family to come with support whenever they want, and one of the best college basketball conventions in SEC. I mean, who could ask for anything better than that? “
