Travis launched a late rally as Florida State beat Miami 31-28
Tallahassee Florida. – Jordan Travis completed his fourth and 14th pass to Andrew Barchman, then played it one yard later by 26 seconds as Florida State beat Miami 31-28 on Saturday.
Late for 28-23 and taking charge at the 20-yard line from Seminoles, Travis slid back and called Ja’Khi Douglas on a 59-yard catch and run. After two incomplete points and a false start, Travis was linked by dancing 24 yards from reception to the goal line.
Travis completed 18 of 26 passes for 274 yards and ran 22 times for 62 yards and two touchdowns at Florida State (4-6, 3-4 ATCT). The Seminoles had their first win over a competitor – Miami, Florida or Clemson – since their November 25, 2017 victory over the Gators.
Tyler Van Dyck threw four touchdown passes as Miami recovered from a 17-point delay. After a shaky first half, Van Dyck regrouped and completed touchdown passes to Keyshawn Smith, Mike Harley, Will Mallory and Jaylan Knighton for the Hurricanes (5-5, 3-3).
Van Dijk completed 25 of 47 passes for 316 yards with two interceptions for Miami.
Miami: The Hurricanes had three turnovers and 14 penalty kicks and only managed a 43 yard rush.
Florida State: The Seminoles shook a slow third quarter to capture a slice of four games in the series.
Miami: It hosts Virginia Tech on Saturday.
Florida State: Plays at Boston College on Saturday.
